The words "secular" and "socialist" in the Preamble are not mere vestiges of the Emergency era; they endure as living symbols of the Republic’s enduring commitment to equality, justice, and pluralism.
The words socialist and secular are inserted in the Preamble without any consultations with "We the People", the socialism is dead ideology and secular have no meaning in real Indian context, if we care to read debates in Constituent Assembly,it is clear that the learned members were not in favour of using any additional words in the Preamble other than what was decided, the demand to remove these words is a legitimate demand and nothing to do with what RSS believes, this high time to delete the words socialist and secular to respect the universal values enshrined in the Constitution and upload the mandate of Constituent Assembly
Your point is well taken, but merely removing them from the preamble, they did not exist from 1950 to 1977, will not alter anything in the Constitution per se.
Sir, point that I am making is that even when we have Secular word in constitution, the country is not secular. This is what someone has to fight for. If RSS doesn’t fight, it will perish.
RSS is always targeted for being far-right, Hindu nationalist and what not. RSS came into existence 100 years ago. Was the social fabric peaceful in India before that? Mughals, then British, then Congress (and BJP as well) governments did their best to keep Hindus as 2nd, 3rd, 4th rated citizens in their own country. No evidences needed to prove that they are not. They may be good, bad, but the fact is that only organization that stands today for Hindus is RSS. British and Congress governments have favored all other religions including us, the Sikhs. I have never ever heard or read that RSS demands anything special for Hindus. What they want is equality of all, and no special favors to any section of the society. Indira tried to change the face of the nation by illegally inserting secular and social in preamble, and the administrators of the county (bureaucrats, courts, politicians), all left leaning, accepted it.
Imagine if this govt removes these two following same process as Indira, will the Courts sit like sitting ducks like they did in 1977?
Not sure why RSS's demand to remove these words is creating so much upheaval. These must be removed, and if required, should be inserted by following the Constitution Change process.
I appreciate your viewpoint, but the underlying thrust is that irrespective of whether the words secular and socialist are there in the preamble, the main text of Indian Constitution remains secular, with a uniquely Indian interpretation.

This is exactly the point that I examined in a previous article that I referred to in mine.
