Introduction to Pauri 1
This pauri emphasizes that all pleasures, comforts, and luxuries of life are bestowed by the grace of the Lord. Guru Arjan Dev Ji reminds the seeker to acknowledge the Divine Giver, enshrine Him in the mind, and meditate on Him constantly. By doing so, one attains true peace, stability, and liberation. The key message is gratitude and ceaseless remembrance (Simran) of the One who grants all blessings.

Essence of Pauri 1
Guru Arjan Dev Ji beautifully describes how every blessing—from food, family, beauty, and luxury to joy—is a gift of the Lord. Yet, how easily one forgets the Giver and clings to the gift. The Guru urges us to constantly remember and meditate upon the Lord through every joy and comfort, for true spiritual elevation (param gati) is achieved not through indulgence, but through Simran and inner devotion. Only the Lord is eternally worthy of remembrance.
