Embracing Harmony: The Dance of Dreams and Memories
Nurturing the Delicate Balance Honoring Memories while Pursuing Dreams
"We are such stuff as dreams are made on, and our little life is rounded with a sleep." - The Tempest, Shakespeare.
Of dreams and memories: Ah, the delicate balance between dreams and memories. It is indeed a captivating pursuit to find harmony between the aspirations of the future and the nostalgia of the past. Dreams propel us forward, fueling our desires and pushing us to reach new heights. Memories, on the other hand, ground us in our experiences, reminding us of who we are and where we come from.
Don’t live in the past but don’t lose sight of it: Too much focus on dreams without regard for memories can make us lose sight of the lessons and growth we have gained from the past. It's important to cherish our memories, as they shape our identities and provide a foundation for our actions. They remind us of our triumphs, mistakes, and the people who have touched our lives.
"What's past is prologue." - The Tempest, Shakespeare.
Yet, dwelling solely on memories can hinder our ability to embrace change and pursue our dreams. Dreams are the catalysts for progress and innovation. They ignite our imagination, push us beyond our comfort zones, and inspire us to redefine what is possible. They are the beacons of hope that guide us towards our desired future.
Transiting from memories to dreams: The key lies in finding a balance between the two. Embrace your dreams and let them guide you towards new horizons, but do not forget the significance of your memories. Treasure the lessons they impart, the joys they bring, and the connections they foster. Let your memories be the foundation upon which you build your dreams.
Take the wisdom and experiences from your past and use them to shape your aspirations for the future. Cherish your memories as a source of strength and motivation. Allow your dreams to evolve and adapt as you grow, knowing that your memories will always be there to ground you and provide guidance.
"Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win, by fearing to attempt." - Measure for Measure, Shakespeare.
Japanese concept of Ikigai: The pursuit of meaningful dreams, both ambitious and realizable, holds great importance in our lives. These dreams are the essence of our aspirations and desires, driving us to explore our true potential and find fulfillment. In the realm of Japanese philosophy, the concept of ikigai aligns harmoniously with this notion. Ikigai encompasses the idea of finding purpose and meaning in one's life, where passion, mission, vocation, and profession intersect. It encourages us to identify and pursue dreams that not only ignite our passion but also align with our values, talents, and the needs of the world around us. By embracing our Ikigai and nurturing our meaningful dreams, we embark on a journey of self-discovery, personal growth, and ultimately, a life of purpose and contentment.
"Pleasure and action make the hours seem short." - Othello in Othello (Act II, Scene III), Shakespeare.
In this quote, Othello reflects on the power of pleasure and action to make time pass quickly. It suggests that engaging in enjoyable activities and being actively involved in life's pursuits can enhance the sense of pleasure and create a perception of time moving swiftly. Dreaming and rumination are inextricable part of our lives, but purposive action in pursuit of our “Ikigai” or our Swadharma will give us lasting happiness and pleasure.
Looking ahead: In this delicate dance between dreams and memories, strive to create a life that integrates both. Embrace the beauty of your dreams and the richness of your memories, for it is in this harmony that we find fulfillment and a sense of purpose. But let’s never ignore or procrastinate meaningful action, for as the Bard said: “Action is eloquence”.

Very true in literature but may not be right in philosophy.. First one is based on imaginations and whims but the second one needs facts, their relevancy with proofs.
