MSP with cost plus 50% has serious implications for consumers (in addition to its computation for different states and also amongst small& marginal farmers vis a vis big farmers) as it may have cascading effect on food prices. Every popular government to please farming community would enhance the MSP recklessly as it has happened sometimes in the past. This would cause distortion in the market further as in the past encouraging rice wheat in areas it shouldn't have been grown.
Further, production function becomes inefficient in respect of small & marginal farmers unless they resort to high value crops (niche markets). Hence, FPO kind of organisation would be solution for small n marginal farmers distress.
